My fitness journey has not been straightforward

For a long time I couldn’t find a balance between weight, diet and exercise and what actually worked. I got curious, hunting for the Holy Grail. I studied the body at University, worked as a PT in LA and Australia, and constantly experimented. I tried everything. You name it, I’ve done it.

I took note of how each method affected my body, for better and for worse. Heavy lifting caused lack of mobility and a shape more boxy than feminine. Endless running led to a saggy bum and bad knees. The list goes on…

There had to be a better way. The exercise I was doing felt like I was punishing my body rather than supporting it. I wanted to transform my body, my mind and my spirit - I could feel there was potential for fitness to boost my self-belief and strength, I just hadn’t found it yet.

Then, children happened. I couldn’t dedicate 2 hours a day, 6 days a week to activities that needed 4 different pairs of trainers - I had to fit it all into one hour. And that hour had to really f**king count.

So I put it all into the most demanding hour of my life. Functional training, with barre, with HIIT, with equipment, with Lotte Berk, with stretching-and always changing it up.

Boom. I got results, fast.

I found this female-focused approach really activated, supported and challenged my body, switched on communication between my brain and body, improved function, sculpted muscles, and even helped with pain relief.

barre, women fitness

Through hard work and curiosity I did it. I created a program that lifted my mind, body and spirit. And I was sure that I was onto something and could help other women too. Women like me who needed a kick-start, a reset and an injection of confidence in what their body could do. Women who had forgotten change was possible. So Perk was born.

I’m proud of my journey, and all of my regular Perkers embarking on their own.
